Your Web site will have a minimum of six pages and must begin with
your default URL. You can use any topic for
your site, but you must have it approved in advance by your instructor.
A project proposal will be due and a final checklist with your final project
will be required.
Examples for your project include:
- a description of your major field of study
a description of how CMST 385 fits in with your work or
leisure time activities
a description of your favorite vacation spot
a description of your favorite hobby
Page Requirements
Your site must meet the following requirements (if a page does not
meet these requirements, no points will be given for elements on that page):
- Your main page must be
named index.html and must begin at your base URL. This URL
will be http://nova.umuc.edu/~ct385_ _ _ (the last three
characters will be your account letter and account numbers).
- Your main page must have a link to your other pages.
- All other pages must have a link back to your main page.
- Each page must have a title (using the HTML title tags).
- Each page must have an appropriate background color or
graphic.
- At least one of your pages must use an internal
Cascading Style Sheet.
- At least one of your pages must follow specific XHTML
guidelines and have been validated by the World Wide Web
Consortium.
Site Requirements
Your site must include:
- at least four font colors (the colors used must be presentable and
cannot interfere with reading the pages)
- at least one instance of using italics
- at least one horizontal rule
- an ordered and unordered list
- at least one table
Graphics
You must use:
two regular images
two hyperlinked (or active) images
two animations
Links
Your Web site must have:
a link to your e-mail address
at least six links to other Web pages
at least one page that uses an anchor to link to a specific section
on that page
Overall Layout, Design, and Usability
Make sure that:
each page is easy to navigate
the text and background colors are appealing
the text is of a size, color, and style that is easy to read
text and graphic placement is visually appealing (use correct aspect
ratio: the graphics should not appear squished or stretched)
each page loads reasonably fast
you use unifying elements that make the pages seem that they belong
together
your pages are well-written, using proper spelling, grammar, and
sentence construction

note:
Your Web site must be
hand-coded by you using Notepad or a similar text editor. If your
instructor detects that you have used a WYSIWYG editor or other
software, you will receive a zero for your Web site grade. |
