Mexico? Of course, Neil and Elisa are glad to get rid of the "savage girl", as they call her.
Albert received Candy's letter in a bottle. Then, someone came into the house. It was the Audrey's housekeeper! (Albert was secretly staying in one of the Audrey's property)... The housekeeper has discovered Albert staying there. He let him go this time and asked him to go pack his things and leave at once, threatening him that he'll kill him if he sets foot on the Audrey's again. Albert packed his things and left.
Soon, Candy arrived. Called Albert's name. She found his glasses on the floor, broken. Candy thinks to herself "Albert...promise me you'll go to Mexico...Anthony...Archie, Stear...I just wish you believe me that I am not a thief!" And thinks back to the incident... "...This girl stole valuable things from the Reagan's - Grandma Reagan said. ...Candy? Stealing? I don't believe it! Did you investigate to clear matters up? Yeah, how could a nice girl like her steal anything? I believe there's some mistake - the three boys tried defending poor Candy. ...Shut up! You...you get out of here! - Grandma Reagan said. ...Grandma! I won't talk to you anymore! - said Anthony."
Anthony defied his Grandmother just because of Candy. All Candy wanted to do was to make them believe that she was not a thief, and that would have been more than enough for her, but the boys, specially Anthony, did more than that. As Candy was leaving, she told them that she'll write to them always when she gets to Mexico. She will never forget them...Anthony, Archie, Stear. They are all such good friends. She's thankful for the happy memories she had shared with them. Candy leaves her regards to Grandma Aylo as well. Neil and Elisa tells Candy to never come back again.
The Mexican who's taking Candy away comments that her strenght wouldn't be enough for the work she'll be doing. He says they'll make her fat so she'll grow stronger.
Anthony and the others wait for Candy, hoping she'd come back. But there's no use. There's no sign of her anywhere. Candy...Anthony wants to see her, for one last time. Anthony, Archie and Stear started playing their bagpipe, and Candy heard the music. In Anthony's mind, he says he'll go to Mexico...wait for me~ All three said out loud "GOODBYE CANDY!"
While Candy was on her way to Mexico, someone kidnapped her. "Please, be quiet, i will not harm you", he said. He's not a kidnapper then? Where will he take Candy to? The darkness seems endless...Candy thinks about Anthony.
Meanwhile, the two brats (Neil & Elisa) joined the three for their usual lessons. "Hi! Good afternoon guys! From now on, we're going to join you in your study lessons. We're very pleased". They replied with a *sigh*. "What? Is this the way they greet people?, said Elisa. "Hey, Elisa! Do you know anything about medieval europe and statistics? - said Stear. Elisa is confused.
While the guys were in the study room, Anthony saw Uncle William's car approaching the Audrey estate, and he thought he saw Candy in it. Neil and Elisa don't believe it. "How can that brat come back?" Anthony is in deep anticipation. "Anthony! Archie! Stear!", she yells. Candy?! It's Candy! Anthony almost couldn't recognize her. He can't believe it, he feels like it's a dream. Uncle William, after reading Anthony's, Archie's and Stear's letters, finally decided to adopt Candy to the Audrey family. Madam Aylo quickly went out to see what the commotion was all about. She was surprised to see Candy, and she didn't like it. She told Mr. Johnson to take Candy away. "It is because of this important matter that Mr. William so urgently asked me to come here", said Johnson. Grandma Aylo can't but obey Uncle William's decision since he has decided upon this. "GRANDMA! Candy will steal! She's a number one thief!", says Elisa. But Candy replies back saying that she can prove she's innocent, that she didn't steal anything. "Shut up, savage and illiterate person like you should not wear a dress like that!", Neil said. "NEIL!"...Anthony was so angry, he defended Candy saying that Candy was now an Audrey and not just a commoner, an Audrey!
"If I could live with Anthony, I will be strong and I'll endure anything.", says Candy to herself.
"Thank you everybody...I wish you all the best...I...I...", Candy said to the boys. "I'm so glad, Candy...Miss Candy Audrey...It suits you perfectly!", Anthony said. "Ok, we'll lead you now to your room", Archie and Stear said. That same night, they were going to throw a welcoming party for Candy. The three went to Candy's room when it was time to escort her to the dining hall. "Candy, it's time. The three of us are here to escort you.", they said.
"...Miss Candy...", Anthony said, mesmerized. They really can't believe how beautiful she was. The cool shade of green eyes...that dark green night gown... Anthony thinks of his mother... *Whistle* "How pretty, looks like a full grown woman! Just look at the expression on Anthony's face!", Stear said.
In the dining room, Chara Reagan, Elisa's mother, told Elisa that her daughter's dress and looks will stand out from the rest in the party, but... "Sorry to keep you waiting, this is Miss Candy". Candy's night gown is more beautiful than Elisa's. That ribbon she was wearing was made of silk. Elisa tells Candy that she has to drink very carefully and must not make a sound while sipping. Candy thanks Elisa, she'll take her advice. "You didn't learn this in the orphanage, huh?", Elisa said. "Elisa, please teach me from now on, I want to be like you Elisa, a rich sweet loving lady.", Candy said in reply. Anthony heard this and thinks to himself that there is nothing to worry about, because Candy can take care of herself. She will surely become a beautiful lady...everyone in the Audrey family will look in awe... Anthony then dreams about marrying Candy, when he's suddenly interrupted by Archie.
It's like Candy is dreaming. If Miss Pony and Sister Lynn knew about this, they will surely be happy for her. The next morning, Candy met Anthony in the rose garden. "Look, there's lots and lots of Candy (White rose) all for you!", he says. Then he notices the pendant she's wearing. Candy tells him that it's a present from her prince, but she doesn't know his name, she just calls him like that. The first time she saw Anthony, she was really surprised because she thought Anthony was her prince. She tells Anthony that he looks just like him... This happened when she was 6 years old. She met him at the small hill near Pony's home. He wore a scottish uniform and he has a bagpipe... All this, she told Anthony. Anthony replies to Candy that only the men in the Audrey clan has that medallion. So the prince is a member of the Audrey family? Anthony thinks so. Who is he, Anthony wonders...who met Candy long time ago when she was small?... "Candy, you haven't forgotten this prince? Or is it because I look like him that..." "Anthony!", Candy interrupted. "No, I don't care about who he is right now! I...Anthony...it's because of you Anthony...it's you that I like...!", then she ran away from him.
The next day, Anthony, Stear, Archie, and Candy went out for a swim in a nearby lake. After that, Candy went to the rose garden and met Anthony. The roses' petals are falling... "Hi, Candy! What's the matter?", Anthony says surprising Candy. "It looks like you're in deep thought...have you gotten used to living here?...The petals are all falling...this season is finally over. It was like this when my mother died...my sickly mother, she loved roses very much...", Anthony said.
Anthony tells Candy when he was small, he hated seeing flower petals falling. He would usually cry and search for his mother through the fallen petals...He had the feeling that his mother would leave him like this. "Anthony, do not cry, my precious...when mama dies, will you cry like this too?", his mother used to tell him. His mother also told him that when the flowers wither, then they bloom again. Flowers exist forever. When a flower withers, another more beautiful will bloom. When a person dies, that person will live forever in the hearts of those who loved him/her. Then Candy asked Anthony if his mother was a beautiful woman. He replies that his mother also had bright clear freckles on her face and she had cool green eyes like Candy's. Candy asks if she can become as pretty as his mother someday...then she says sadly "no...I don't think that wll happen..." Then Anthony gives Candy a sweet kiss on her cheek and tells her that she will turn out to be a beautiful lady someday.
Suddenly someone calls him, "Hi, Anthony! Grandma is calling you!". Ah, Anthony recalls tomorrow is the fox hunting day. A lot of people will be there, most from the Audrey family. It will be a grand celebration. They have to get up very early in the morning, so he recommends Candy to sleep early tonight, and leaves.
The next morning, Stear says to Candy "I'll be the first one to catch a fox and i'll give it to you". Archie says "I doubt if there is any fox stupid enough to be caught by Stear. The first one to give Candy a captured fox is going to be me." Anthony says "There are traps everywhere, so you guys must be careful, ok?". They also tell her that their relatives are very anxious to meet Candy. Candy asks them how many people will be coming, and they answered there will be a hundred! Candy is surprised. "Candy, don't be nervous, we'll be by your side. Yeah, smile. Show your cute smile...", they told her.
Grandma Aylo is the one introducing Candy to the crowd, and Candy will greet them warmly. Candy is scared, but Anthony tells her not to worry, just to greet them like the way she greet any ordinary person. Ok, she will do as he says. She will greet them just like what she used to do, there should be no problem and everything will turn out just fine. Some of the guests said "She's prettier than what i've expected! The Audrey attire suits her too." Grandma Aylo introduces Candy as Uncle William's abruptedly adopted child. She asks Candy to greet the guests. "Hello everybody, this is the first time that we meet. I am Candy. I still do not know a lot of things, I will be very pleased to be at your guidance. Without further adue, I will now end my speed here." Anthony tells Candy that she did great! Candy just did what he told her to do...speak naturally.
"Anthony, it looks like there's a fox there, let's go and catch it", it was Elisa. "Sorry Elisa, but I will be Candy's guide. This is her first time, you know. I have a lot of things to teach her", Anthony said in response. Elisa is jealous, "Candy, don't you fall down on that horse", she tells her before leaving. Candy replies "Elisa, you be careful too! Anthony and Candy went to a hill, which reminded Candy of Pony's hill. She tells him how she always used to go around Pony's hill, burst forth and play on that hill, run there...jump there...laugh there...injuries...rubbing her wounds...Pony's hill...Pony's home... Anthony promises Candy that he will go with her to Pony's hill someday.
Anthony wants to show Candy something, "I will make my horse fly". Fly? Can horses fly?, Candy wonders. Anthony showed her his horse jump really high, like if it was flying. Candy wants her horse to fly too, but Anthony doesn't let her, because once his mother wanted to make her horse fly, but the doctor wouldn't allow it. Then Anthony tells her "It looks like your green eyes today are full of anticipation". Candy wants to fly...she wants to fly...because it was really brave of Anthony to do that, he's great! Anthony says that if Candy was able to make the horse fly, then it's because she's a brave and lovely girl. He says that he just has his clues about who someone really is. Candy says then he must know about her prince. Anthony replies that when he was small, there was someone who was always standing beside his mother. He's sure that boy was... (who could that be??? Anthony knew someone just like Candy's prince!). Suddenly he yelled "A fox! And it's big! I'll catch him to make you a shawl! See what I'm capable of!", and so Anthony went off.
"...Candy...I'll get the fox for you...", then Candy suddenly wakes up screaming "NO! ANTHONY!!!!!". Candy had fainted, when she woke up, she was burning with fever and she was in bed. She looked around, and she saw people in sad faces...Stear, Archie...
Anthony...Where is he? He was thrown off the horse and hit his head on the ground. When they were carrying him up, he was not moving anymore. He died on the spot. "Died...? Why, why did he have to die...that bastard! Why did he have to die?!? ANTHONY DIED! DIED...", Candy was devastated. "Candy, I have your shawl...", that was Anthony's last words...that was the last time she saw him.
Later, they went to visit Grandma Aylo. She loved Anthony so much, she didn't want to see Candy. She blames Candy for Anthony's death. She thinks if Candy didn't come to the Audrey's from the first place, if she didn't join in the fox hunting...she believes Anthony has died because of Candy and hates her for that. Candy is thinking "This is the place where I first met Anthony. When I was crying, there was a voice that said "...flowers wither so it becomes beautiful...flowers wither to bloom more beautifully once more...when a person dies, that person will remain in the hearts of those who love him/her..." Anthony...what remains? What? Anthony, I want to hear your voice, I want to see your shimmering eyes, I want to hold your hands, Anthony...Anthony...", she cries.
"Hi, Candy...", Albert appears and sees Candy crying. He asks her what happened, what happened to the Candy he knew. Candy tells Albert about Anthony's death. Albert knows she liked him, and Candy knows Anthony liked her too, because he was so kind and gentle to her. He gave her his love, his kindness. Albert tells Candy all these, and now that Anthony is dead, he asks what has she done for him in return...just cry and cry until her face is soaked with tears. Candy cries again. Alberts tells her not go cry because she's prettier when she smiles, she's much prettier when she laughs. He asks her not to grieve for Anthony's death now. She should be happy that she met a fun, loving boy like Anthony, she must be happy that she met him. Candy remembers back to the time she was with Anthony..."Hi, cry baby!...Candy, let's go to Pony's hill someday...let's go to Pony's home together..." Albert says that life isn't what other people want it to be, it is what you want, it depends on your own two hands to build it. He asks her if she wants to spend the rest of her life crying like this. He tells her to be strong, her life depends on how she builds it. Suddenly, they hear someone approaching. Albert has to leave. Candy asks him when will she see him again, Albert answers "when I could see a happy face again", and he left.
Candy goes back to Pony's home. "Anthony...this is the place where I grew up, this hill, this vast land...Anthony...even though I didn't hear you say my prince's name, I'm determined to find out the prince that you knew. I will...I will...I will meet you again once more..." "Ok, I'll run to Pony's home! Let's go and climb Pony's hill together! Anthony, no matter where, we'll always be together..."
One day, Candy fell asleep by the window, she was dreaming..."I miss you Anthony...oh, my beloved Anthony...you're still alive...then the funeral...your death...it was all a lie!... Anthony???... Prince... prince...where is Anthony... where is Anthony... prince...OUCH!", suddenly she was woken up by a toy arrow. It was Johnny (one of the boys who lives in Pony's home). Candy was having a very nice dream but she was woken up by Johnny. He wants to race her up the hill. She races Johnny...she is also happy - Candy dreamt about Anthony and the prince in one dream. She met the prince for the first time on the hill she's racing the little boy. She recalls the time when Anthony and she promised to climb together. Candy had fun with the kids. She beat Johnny in tree climbing. She's an expert climber, everybody recognized her as the hero and as a true Pony's home kid.
Meanwhile, in the Audrey mansion, Anthony's father had come over. It was snowing, soon the land would be covered with snow. Mr. Audrey thanks Archie and Stear for their companionship with his son Anthony. He, as his father, has done little for him. He's leaving to the sea again. Archie and Stear asked him if he's going to be long out there and that they'll wait for his return soon. Anthony's father also asked them to inform him if Candy is around because he wants to meet her. Poor Mr. Audrey, lost his wife and now his son. He went to the stone gate and stood alone in front of the rose garden gate.
After Anthony's death, Neil and Elisa don't come to the mansion anymore. Archie and Stear don't want to miss this opportunity and plan to go away for a while. "Don't bring so many things, Archie!", Stear says. "What are you talking about? Isn't it you who puts useless things in here?!", Archie replies.
"Shhh, someone might hear us... and this is not worthless you know!", Stear says. "This is a puppet Candy! Use the strings to make Candy move. If we give this to Candy, I'm sure she'll like it.", Stear says. Then they think back in time when Candy fell in the lake and they had their good laughs.
Suddenly, someone caught them. "Johnson, we don't want to stay here anymore. Please let us go.", they boys say. Johnson says he knows how they feel. "Anthony's dead. Candy's not here. This mansion...I don't want to stay here anymore. I don't want to stay in this place anymore!", Archie says. Johnson says that Madam Aylo will discuss with them about Uncle William's orders and they need to go back inside.
Meanwhile, Candy and the children are happily celebrating Christmas. Then, when they went back to Pony's home, they saw an Audrey car. Candy thinks that it might be Archie and Stear.
