Candy is the main protagonist of the story. She is a high-spirited, lovable, playful, and cheerful orphan girl of Pony's Home. Pony's Home is the orphanage where Candy grew up. She has golden blond hair, green eyes, and freckles in her funny, cute face. Many people love Candy. She goes through many tough situations in her life, however she always stays cheerful, diligent and optimistic.

Miss Pony & Sister Lein were the two lovable people who took care of Candy when she was left in front of Pony's door when Candy was just a little baby. Miss Pony owns Pony's Home (as her name suggests), and Sister Lein assists her in taking care of the children. They both took care of Candy with great love, care and warmth. They love the children as their own, and they are always ready to help the children when they are in need. Candy loved them a lot.

Annie is Candy's best friend. Their friendship was very strong. She was found on the same night Candy was found, in front of Pony's Home door. Unlike Candy, Annie is very shy, and weak-natured, but she is a kind and loving girl. Annie and Candy are the same age. She has long, smooth brown hair and blue eyes (though this picture does not show it).

Stea is a genius, a good-natured, intelligent, creative, unperturbed, mature and pensive guy. He is Archie's older brother and Anthony's cousin. Stea has an uncommon hobby - he loves to invent things and likes to fly. Stea is an innovative young fellow who likes to work with gadgets and build creative machines (which often turns out to be unsuccessful). Most people like him. Stea is a good friend of Candy. He loves Candy, but he hides his love for her.

Albert is a kind, gentle and helpful man. He is a tall, blond-haired man, with a full beard and wears dark eyeglasses. He likes animals and travels around with almost no baggage. He likes leading a free and independent life. Whenever Candy is sad, Albert is there to console her. He is the most mysterious character, but his true identity is revealed at the end of the story.

Archie a member of the Audrey's clan. Archie is a nice, fun and cheerful guy who always takes care of his appearance. He is one of the three musketeers, together with Anthony and Stea. Archie is Stea's younger brother and Anthony's cousin.

The Prince is Candy's first love. They met in Pony's Hill - a place Candy would go whenever she felt sad. Later in the story we find out who the Prince is...

Anthony is Candy's second love. He grew up with his cousins, Archie and Stea, at the Audrey's ancestral castle in Chicago, and later brought to Lakewood, Ohio. He is a blond-haired, blue-eyed handsome guy. Anthony lost his dear mother at a very young age, and his father is always abroad for business purposes. His mother loved roses very much and she had a rose garden in Lakewood. Anthony took charge of the garden after his mother died. He has a deep affection with roses because they reminded him of his mother. He met Candy at the garden's gate and Candy mistook him for the "Prince". He wasn't actually the "Prince" Candy met at Pony's Hill when she was six years old, but the nephew of the "Prince". Anthony was very fond of Candy. Her greenish eyes and blond hair reminded him of his mother. The 12-year old Candy fell in love with him. But fate was selfish, and tragedy happens...

Terry is a cool, handsome, solitary, unsociable and rebellious guy. He is the illegitimate and therefore hidden son of a British noble and famous beautiful theater actress. Terry meets Candy at the famous and respected school of St. Paul in London. At first they both always annoyed and teased each other, but soon they ended up liking each other.

Patty is Candy's best friend in St. Paul. She is at first a weak, reserved, fearful girl with no opinion. But later, under the influence of Candy's personality she learns to be brave. Patty is a nice, loyal girl, and together with Annie she completed Candy's life at St. Paul.

Clyn is Candy's pet racoon. She found him when she was a little girl. He accompanied her in many adventures and is very faithful to her.

Tommy is Candy and Annie's childhood friend. When he was two years old, he heard a baby crying outside Pony's Home. He tried to get Miss Pony and Sister Lein's attention by knocking on the window glass. The women thought it was just a childish game and ignored him. But Tommy kept insisting that something was wrong. Sister Lein soon heard the cry of a baby and went out of the house to check. If it wasn't for Tommy, Candy and Annie could have been frozen to death that night. At eight years old, Tommy was adopted by a ranch owner named Mr. Stone.

Jimmy is an orphan boy. He came to Pony's Home after Candy and Annie left. He is bossy like Candy and he even challenged her on a running race and tree climbing, but he lost to Candy in both of them. Jimmy recognizes Candy as the "boss" or "oyaji". He is a good friend of Candy.

Elisa & Neil are the two children of the wealthy Reagan family. Candy was taken away from Pony's Home to make her not an adopted daughter, but a servant and playmate for the two spoiled brats. Elisa is the b*tch of the story. She thinks she is the lady in the family and expects other who are not her friends to obey her. She always gives Candy a hard time, primarily because she is very jealous of her. She never leaves Candy out of her sight and she always sets evil traps against her. Fortunately, Anthony, Stea and Archie often protect Candy from her mean tricks. Neil is the elder brother of Elisa. He is a typical playboy, villainous, and cruel just as his sister. He assists Elisa in her plans. He hates Candy just because... He always loses to Candy in fights. Once, he was saved by Candy from some street guys, that's when he developed a crush on her as they grew up and forced her to marry him, but failed.

Chara Reagan is Elisa & Neil's mother. She always sides with her children everytime there is an issue about Candy. She is unreasonable and cruel to Candy. She never liked Candy from the beginning, since it was her husband's idea to adopt her from the orphanage. They are arrogant and very proud of their position in society, and look down on poor people. They are a distant relatives of the Audrey's.
