How to get pictures into your Word document
Note that this is advice only. The size of my classes and the number of different operating systems and programs available mean that I can't possibly give detailed instruction to individual students. This is an excellent place to get some mileage from Conferences in your WebTycho classroom.
Produce your picture in software of your choice. (Note that if all else fails, you probably have Microsoft Paint. It's included with Windows operating systems.) Save it. Then in your open Word document Insert > Picture > From file. Note you can also insert a drawing you do with your mouse, or insert from a camera or scanner.
Check out Insert > Object, also.
Pictures produced this way are often in bitmap, .bmp, and are very large. Consider converting them to jpeg .jpg, using a free converter easily found on the Internet. That gives much smaller files. You can save them at medium resolution. That's quite adequate for our uses.
