This website provides information to my students in addition to that provided in the classroom or on WebTycho.

So, enough of that.
In addition to my teaching at UMUC, I have a number of interests. I take advantage of the fact that, though teaching takes much of my time, I can for the most part choose when I will do what. I never miss a classroom session except in case of emergency—even then I try to notify students by email of what's going on. For WebTycho, generally, if I say I'll do something at a particular time, I try to do it then, or if not within a day of then. There is no promise, though, that I'll be instantly available by other means. The best strategy for reaching me is:
1. Email me at spassman@polaris.umuc.edu. Remember that you must use that address only and your email title must be as I have requested, so if you're Julius Caesar in Math 961, Section 6380, and you want to talk to me about the Peloponnesian Wars, it would be
MATH9616380 / CAESAR / PELOPONNESIAN WARS / 1
where 1 means this is the first email on this subject. Any departure from this, no matter how small, even spacing, means I probably won't see your email. Never simply "reply" to an email of mine. I probably won't see it and if I do I'll be aggravated.
2. Phone me. It's 703 442 6543. The backup is a fax, not voice mail. I don't have voice mail.
The purposes of this website are for my online students, to provide information to that supplements their course sites on WebTycho, and to my classroom students, to provide an accessible repository of information. As such, students should read and understand Policies, as well at the button below for their individual courses.
