As I sit and reflect I feel a sense of relief coming over me. I can honestly say this was one of the most time-consuming projects I have ever completed. I think I spent close to 30 hours on this. Each free moment I had was dedicated to this web site. I created, deleted, edited, and browsed for images just about every day. I would come up with a new idea and go back and redo specific changes.
Each day I spend using Dreamweaver and Fireworks I learned something new. The first couple pages and banners I created ended up getting deleted after I learned how to really use the software. You can teach yourself so much just by trying different things. I think back to the first banner that alone took me close to an hour. At this very moment I can whip up an image or banner on Fireworks in minutes and it looks much better then the one I created in the beginning.
Using layers in Dreamweaver and creating CSS syle sheets is a new talent of mine. A friend was over looking at my site and she commented on how quickly I was creating the sites while she was watching. I am glad after all my practice it paid off.
Although I was frustrated at times, exhausted most of the time, and anxious towards the end about not finishing in time. Looking back on the experience I can honestly say I learned A LOT! I really have an understanding of how to create a web site and the different elements within. I am very excited to use these skills I have learned in this class and can say that the objective of this project was met. I really learned how to create a site using Dreamweaver and fireworks.
I am not saying I am an expert by any means but I observed myself grow in a short period of time and really learn something. It is usually hard to see growth in yourself. I just have such a better understanding of html codes and elements than I ever knew before and I really understand the different layers of web sites.
I plan on tweaking my page a little this summer so I can use it next school year from the beginning of the school year. I look forward to having the Summer to experience more time to explore these applications and learn more about them and new tricks I haven’t found yet. So if you ask me this project was a success. I personally feel accomplished and am very proud of my site. There are a few things that I could’ve changed if time allowed but I am very happy and content with my final product!
