We learn how to identify text features and use them to help us understand the text.
We learn about a variety of Non Fiction Text; Informational Text, Magazines, Newspapers, Posters, Menus, and “How To” books.

Fiction Text

We learn how to retell a story using beginning, middle, end, and using story elements. We learn about character traits and read a variety of fiction stories.

Fairy Tales

We look at all different types of Folk and Fairy tales. We study the characteristics of a Folk tale and learn about how fables teach lessons. At the end of this unit we put on a Fairytale Wax Museum for parents to come watch.

Plays and Poems

We learn about different types of poems and how to write a poem. We also study plays and learn how plays are structured and the different roles in a play. At the end of this unit we have a reader's theater production and invite all of the parents to come watch our plays.
