Steve Kerby

I am currently:

working as a Distance Education Coordinator in the Graduate School of Management and Technology at the University of Maryland, University College;
writing a dissertation on Wallace Stevens and Jacques Lacan at The University of North Texas;
taking graduate courses on-line from George Washington University in Educational Technology Leadership;
using DreamWeaver 2, AuthorWare 5, PhotoShop 5, and FrontPage;
learning VisualBasic 6.0;
committed to the philosophy of distance education;
fascinated by this brave new techno-world of asynchronous learning and on-line collaborative communities;
learning as much as I can, as fast as I can.

A transplanted Texan, I am currently living in beautiful, rural, northern Maryland, just about a half an hour south of Gettysburg, PA. I taught English Composition and English Literature for nine years (UNT, Western Maryland College and York College of Pennsylvania). In 1998, I taught Information Literacy at York College of Pennsylvania. Just this past summer, I helped put together YCP's IFL eText with Susan Campbell and Kimberley Donnelley. I love the work I am doing at UMUC. I hope to continue that AND return to the classroom again soon.
