Assignment Four: Analytical Report

NOTE: Report should be submitted by U.S. mail postmarked no later than the date the assignment is due. I suggest sending it by Priority Mail. Please do not request a signature for delivery. Send it to the following address: Nancy Hoagland, 4001 West Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA 22304.

Assignment: Write a formal analytical report in which you do the following:

NOTE: The latest edition of the textbook Technical Communication makes a distinction between an analytical report and a recommendation report. For the purposes of this assignment, you should draw conclusions as suggested by Markel for an analytical report and then present recommendations as he suggests for the recommendation report.

Here are the required components for the project:

Additional Requirements: Your report must include at least one graphic in the text. Your bibliography must include a minimum of five references including Internet resources. You must identify sources within the text of your document and in a reference list at the end. For all citations, use the Modern Language Association (MLA) style guidelines.

Assignment length: minimum 10 double-spaced pages of text for the report (does not include the supplementary components of a report).

Format: Please use Microsoft Word or another standard word processing program.

An example of an analytical report from a COMM 393 project is available in Course Content Module 2. (You will need Acrobat reader to view this copy of the report). A link to a copy of the report that does not require Acrobat reader is available in Module 2.

Please note that this view of the report includes a border around the text of the report. I don't think you need to include a border on the pages of your report, but I do think the content and organization of the report are very good.
