What to do if you really, really hate UNIX Mail.

Not that it's recommended there are a couple of things you can do.
  1. Forward your UNIX (Pine) mail to your preferred account by placing the following two lines in a systems file, .forward, created in you UNIX home directory like so:

    your preferred e-mail address
    \your UNIX server ID

    For Example -
    your_ID@xyz.com
    \your_ID

Your mail will be sent to your preferred account AND retained in your UNIX account. You will still need to use UNIX mail to send class message traffic.

  2. Create a Nova or Polaris profile in your preferred Windows e-mail program. Make UMUC's server your POP3 server but retain your ISP as your SMTP server. You can then use this profile to send and receive mail from your UNIX account. It might be well, when doing this, to set your profile to leave the downloaded mail on the UMUC server.
You are on your own when using these techniques.
