Cynthia Whitesel
Cynthia Whitesel has over 25 years of training and teaching experience in workplace and classroom settings using different technologies, during which time she has also worked as a professional writer, editor, and information systems analyst. She has trained extensively in technical and business writing, editing, proposal writing, corporate communications, briefing, computer user documentation, and other areas.
She has been teaching writing to faculty and students at University of Maryland University College since 1970 and has taught and consulted on writing and other communication skills in the workplace for Washington-Baltimore-Annapolis area firms, including IIT Research Institute, Printing Industries of Maryland, Allied Signal, Department of Defense, and HCFA. She is also an Internet adjunct associate professor of English at Park College, Parkville, Missouri.

With experience in various distance delivery technologies, she consults in training and instructional design for distance programs. As faculty training and development specialist at UMUC, she trains faculty to use the computer-conferencing system, develop course materials, and deliver courses online. She designed and taught the pilot class for the American Society of Association Executives successful desktop training program. She is a frequent speaker and presenter at distance education conferences.

For UMUC, Whitesel has taught COMM 390 Writing for Managers, COMM 393 Technical Writing, COMM 490 Seminar in Technical Communications, COMM 491 Technical Editing, ENGL 493 Advanced Expository Writing, ENGL 498 Creative Writing.  For Park College, she teaches ENGL 306a Technical and Scientific Writing, ENGL 306b Business Communication, and ENGL 217 American Literature I
