to provide a real world business interface with the semester course content.

• Managing project risk and opportunities - a practical example.
• Marketing vs. Sales in the international/global marketplace, and why
companies expanding abroad need to understand this.
• The current global energy dynamic, which is history in the making -
topics will include peak oil, biofuels breakthrough, the food vs. Fuel
debate, carbon trading and possible lifestyle changes.
• Overview of Iogen and fuel from cellulose as a response to the energy
crisis. (Maurice’s employer – www.iogen.ca)
• Positioning SMEs in international business – challenges and opportunities.
• Program and course competencies will be examined in the context of
international trade, and why these competencies are so important for
you and your case study, as well as in your business environment after
your MBA.
• Case study development - consultation time for team members and your
case study related issues.

• Relevance of current affairs to your case study: What has happened
in the world since January 2008 in the context of the topics covered
in AMBA 606?
• Why knowledge of current affairs is vital to business people. In other
words, to be effective in an interconnected world, how do we learn to
focus on the relevant and factual and disregard the rest as noise?
• Overview of media sources (printed, TV and radio) and their relevance
to the above.
