Overview of our virtual events: UMUC 411 This event enables prospective students to experience an online classroom for free through this weeklong introduction to the UMUC's online class environment. During the event participants learn about UMUC's academic programs, submit practice assignments, and chat with current students, alumni, faculty and staff. SUCCESSFUL BEGINNINGS This three day event is offered to all first semester undergraduate students a week prior to the start of their classes at UMUC. It is designed to help students prepare for their upcoming classes, develop goals for their first year of studies, improve time management strategies, and learn more about the student resources. During the event students are encouraged to go into their upcoming semester class and plan out their study time for the 8-week class(es) based on the syllabus and projects/activities listed in the class(es). They are asked to use a planner to estimate time needed for projects and selects days and times that they plan to devote to studying. Students are also encouraged to connect/partner with another student in efforts to help each other during the semester and to stay on top of their studies. UMUC 111 This free online course connects UMUC students with other current students and alumni from around the world.
