Scavenger Hunt Answers
 Updated 09/09 BR

Question 1
From the libraries home page, select the Research Databases heading, then click the letter “e” (a student might also find it under the search by subject heading, but it’s less direct, and they would need to know what subject area it fell under).
The short description for Emerald, under the link, reads "Journal articles covering international business, marketing, human resource, management, organizational development, and library management issues in journals via Emerald Management Xtra 125.” (*The student is not required to use this or the full description as their answer, they can summarize the content as their answer so long as they get the main idea of what content in the database. (Student can also click on the “more” link to read the full description)
Question 2
The search: Project management and teams retrieves 1,895 hits (*results will vary day by day as the database vendor adds material).
Clicking on the “Academic Journals” link on the left-hand side of the screen to filter results, currently retrieves 869 hits (total results will vary day by day as the database vendor adds material).
Question 3
ScienceDirect database has the full-text of this article.
Question 4
Request the article though DocumentExpress.
Question 5
If the student picks the Mathematics/Statistics subject link, they will first see the list of top databases. They then need to click on the red “web sites” tab.
The best answer to this question is the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The description reads: “Statistical information concerning inflation and consumer spending; wages, earnings, and benefits; productivity; safety and health; international economic conditions; occupations; employment and unemployment; industries; and business costs.”
(Other answers, such as FedStats could be able as well because they can find some of this information there, but would suggest noting to the student that BLS is the “best” choice, since FedStats takes the student right to the BLS web site anyway, it is more direct to go right to BLS.)
Question 6

  1. Netlibrary. (If the student picks one of the other choices on that page, they should know those are indeed e-book collections, but those choices are not technically “library databases”. That is why Netlibrary is the correct answer.)
  2. The title of an e-book on leadership can vary.  A couple of the first titles that come up in the list are:

Identity Is Destiny: Leadership and the Roots of Value Creation
The Jossey-Bass Handbook of Nonprofit Leadership and Management
Question 7
You will find the full text of The Journal of Management Studies in Business Source Complete database.
(*Note: there are two journals with the exact same title, you want the one with ISSN 0022-2380).
Question 8
The database that provides articles from The Economic Journal dating back to 1891 is JSTOR.
Question 9
For this question, students should present the basic citation information for an article of their choice.

Note: (If they don’t change the full-text default search to a keyword search as the instructions say, they get 2,302 results)
Suggested feedback: “That is a good title; however, you didn’t change the default full-text search to a keyword search and thus got an unusually large list of results.”
