COURSE REQUIREMENTS & GRADING:

UCSP 611 is offered on a Pass/Fail basis and must be completed with a grade of Pass (P) within the first six credits of graduate study.Note: The Grade of I (Incomplete) will be given only under exceptional circumstances, at the faculty member's discretion, as enumerated in UMUC Policy 170.71, Grade of Incomplete, Grade Pending, and Withdrawal at http://www.umuc.edu/policy/aa17071.shtml.

To earn a grade of Pass (P), student must earn a cumulative average of 70%. Grading is distributed as follows:

Participation (Conference discussions, activities, quizzes, pre-assessment) 20%
Project 1 20%
Final Project 25%
Final Exam 35%

Detailed Information about Requirements:

Participation:

Participate in required Conference discussions.

Complete the Pre-knowledge Survey intended to collect baseline information on student knowledge. Full credit is given for survey completion.

Quizzes in Modules 1 through 6. Each module has a quiz comprised of six questions. Quizzes may be repeated until passed with 4 out of 6 correct.

Scavenger Hunt assignment. This assignment is auto-graded and full credit is given for assignment completion. However, the instructor may rescind points if the assignment is not completed at a minimum level of 70% correct. This assignment may be resubmitted for a higher grade.

Citing in APA Style assignment. This assignment is auto-graded and full credit is given for assignment completion. However, the instructor may rescind points if the assignment is not completed at a minimum level of 70% correct. This assignment may be resubmitted for a higher grade.

Project 1 and the Final Project. Project 1 and the Final Project are each graded according to an assignment-specific rubric which is provided in the WebTycho Classroom and may be resubmitted for a higher grade. For Project 1, to be submitted in week 2 of the course, the deliverables include a viable research question, keywords, search statements, and a list of the databases to be searched for sources. Instructions for completing Project 1 can be found in Module 4. For the Final Project, to be submitted in week 5 of the course, the deliverable is an annotated reference list. Five authoritative and relevant sources are required. All five sources should be cited in correct APA style, and three of the sources in the reference list should be annotated. Instructions for completing the Final Project can be found in Module 6.

Final Exam. The final exam is comprised of ten questions. The final exam may be repeated until passed with at least 7 out of 10 correct.
