STEPS TO USE ORACLE

1. Go to your class in WebTycho.

2. Go to CourseContent/DatabaseLab web page.

3. Click on Database Lab, then Go to Nova – Setting up class account.

4. If you don’t know what server you are on, go to Course Server Map.

5. Follow the directions for setting up an account.

STEP 2:

1. Decide if you want to use your web browser or a command line interface.  If you don’t know, we recommend the web browser. 

STEP 3:

If you want to use the web browser.  Follow the directions below.

1. Open your browser.

2. Put the destination in the url and click enter. For Nova, the URL is : isqlplus.umuc.edu
           

3. For the Dbcourse servers, the URL is : dbcourse(your number).umuc.edu Login.  If you need the Connect ID, check the Course Serve Map again. Enjoy the web interface.

STEP 4:

To work with the command line.  Follow directions below.

1. a.  On windows click on start --> Run

b.Telnet to your server.

2. Enter your unix ID and password.

3. Type sqlplus with no forward slash.

4. Enter your Oracle ID and password at the prompts.Note that there are two separate accounts – your unix ID and your Oracle ID.
